About heifer

heifer.org

Heifer International, founded in 1944, is a global nonprofit that works to end hunger and poverty by empowering smallholder farmers and communities with livestock, training, and sustainable agricultural practices. Its programs build livelihoods, strengthen food security, promote gender equity and climate resilience, and use community-driven approaches like the "Pass on the Gift" model to spread benefits. Heifer partners with donors, governments, and local organizations to provide training, market access, and financial tools across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and beyond.
