About this role

DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking an experienced Welder II to perform all necessary welds on structures within the FAB Plant. The role requires interpreting blueprints, operating manual and power welding equipment, and manipulating steel structures using cranes and hoists. Candidates must produce high-quality welds that meet visual and ultrasonic inspection standards while adhering to AWS D1.1 structural steel welding codes.

Responsibilities

Position, align, and weld parts to form complete structures following blueprints
Operate manual welding equipment to fuse metal parts using the gas metal arc process
Examine workpieces for defects and measure with weld gauges to ensure conformance
Move parts safely into position using hoists or cranes
Clean and repair welds with grinders and arc gougers
