Human Rights Watch is an independent international non‑profit organization that investigates and defends the rights of people in more than 100 countries. It conducts on‑the‑ground research and publishes detailed reports documenting abuses—ranging from war crimes and unlawful detention to discrimination and repression—and uses that evidence to pressure governments, international bodies, and corporations to change policies and hold perpetrators accountable. HRW combines legal and policy analysis, media engagement, and targeted advocacy to advance protections and justice, and is funded primarily by donations and philanthropic foundations.
