The Intellectual Property, Rights Intern at SFMOMA supports the assessment of Henri Matisse works in the museum’s collection for public domain status. The role is jointly mentored by the Archives and Art Resources and Legal teams and centers on researching, documenting, and tracking rights-related information. Over a 9-week full-time summer program, the intern participates in museum-wide educational programming and gains exposure to museum operations. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in copyright, public domain issues, and art-related rights within a major museum setting.
