The Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) is a campus-level laboratory safety leader within Cornell’s Environment, Health and Safety department, serving as the University’s designated CHO under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1450. The role supports Cornell’s Ithaca campus and outlying facilities by developing and maintaining chemical safety policies and programs, promoting compliance, and partnering with colleges, research units, and external agencies. This position is embedded in EHS and provides visible institutional leadership on chemical hygiene and laboratory safety matters.
