Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights
The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights seeks a Child Engagement Specialist to provide direct, trauma-informed case support for unaccompanied immigrant children in federal detention facilities. The role involves building rapport with children, gathering background information, maintaining case documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support best-interest determinations. This full-time position is based in Harlingen, Texas, and is funded through a federal contract.
The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a nonprofit organization and the only entity that pairs volunteer Child Advocates with interdisciplinary staff, attorneys, and social workers to accompany and advocate for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody. The organization works to protect children's best interests in immigration proceedings, fights for their right to be with family, and amplifies their voices through direct services, litigation, and systems change. It operates across multiple U.S. cities and accepts volunteers and donations to support its mission.
