Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights
The Staff Attorney will join the Child Advocate Program to engage in interdisciplinary advocacy on behalf of unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in Los Angeles. This role involves supervising volunteer Child Advocates, conducting best interests determinations, and collaborating with stakeholders to protect children's rights within immigration and child welfare systems. The position requires applying legal expertise to identify issues impacting children's well-being and ensuring they receive appropriate support and placement.
The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a nonprofit organization and the only entity that pairs volunteer Child Advocates with interdisciplinary staff, attorneys, and social workers to accompany and advocate for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody. The organization works to protect children's best interests in immigration proceedings, fights for their right to be with family, and amplifies their voices through direct services, litigation, and systems change. It operates across multiple U.S. cities and accepts volunteers and donations to support its mission.
