About this role

The Compliance Manager & MLRO for Airwallex in Malaysia is responsible for leading the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) framework and ensuring adherence to AML regulatory requirements. This role involves managing relationships with regulators, overseeing Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) filings, and providing compliance advisory to various internal teams. Reporting to the Director of FCC for Asia, the position includes stakeholder management, governance, and continuous improvement of compliance controls within the Malaysian market.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related fieldMinimum of 7-8 years of financial crimes compliance experience in a financial institution or Payment Services Provider licensed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)In-depth familiarity with Malaysian laws and regulations, particularly the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA)Previous experience holding the MLRO or deputy MLRO designationProfessional certification in a compliance-related area (e.g., CAMS, ICA)
