About this role

This role manages the Office of Public Health's Vital Records and Statistics (CVRS) by reviewing confidential records in compliance with Louisiana Statutes and assisting the public with birth, death, marriage, and divorce data requests. The staff member ensures data accuracy in the LEERS system, handles incoming correspondence and mail orders, routes inquiries, and trains new employees on office procedures.

Responsibilities

Review incoming correspondence and apply Vital Statistics Laws to access confidential records.
Assist walk-in customers and route inquiries to appropriate Vital Records units.
Verify identification and process requests for births, deaths, marriages, and divorces.
Maintain files on mail received and reconcile bank notes used by staff members.
Update vital records in the Louisiana Electronic Event Registration System (LEERS).
