About this role

The Embedded Test Software Engineer serves as the software backbone for Helsing's Test Department, designing firmware tools and Python automation frameworks to transform manual hardware testing into scalable engineering processes. This role operates at the intersection of hardware and software, building infrastructure that reveals hardware behavior under test and feeding findings back into the design cycle. Key activities include developing embedded firmware for environmental, electrical, and ground testing clusters, integrating COTS instruments, and commissioning version-controlled bench rigs for mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

Design and build embedded test firmware in C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M platforms
Develop Python-based test orchestration frameworks for hardware simulation
Integrate COTS test instruments and custom PCBs into automated bench rigs
Diagnose hardware and firmware failures using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
Build and maintain regression test libraries for protocol behavior and power profiles
