Engineering Manager, Control Plane - Distributed Transactional Database

This role is an Engineering Manager for the Control Plane team within Airbnb’s Distributed Transactional Database organization, responsible for leading a team that builds and operates the unified NewSQL backend for Airbnb’s online workloads. The manager will drive long-term vision and roadmap, ensure platform scalability, reliability and integration with compute, networking and security infrastructure, and represent the team across internal partners and external open-source communities. The position involves attracting and developing talent, aligning cross-team charters, and balancing operational excellence with platform evolution.
