About this role

The Department of Natural Resources & Renewables seeks a physically fit Forestry/Fire Crew team member to support wildland fire suppression, wildlife, forestry, and park projects across Nova Scotia. This seasonal, outdoor role involves general maintenance, vehicle operation, and utilizing power tools while adhering to strict safety protocols. Successful candidates may qualify for the Provincial Type-1 Wildfire team after completing the required fitness test.

Responsibilities

Perform wildland fire suppression and pre/post suppression activities
Assist with wildlife, forestry, and park infrastructure projects
Operate off-highway vehicles, tractors, and 4-wheel drive trucks safely
Conduct general maintenance, grounds keeping, and carpentry tasks
Pass the Medium Level Pack Test and other physical fitness assessments
