About this role

The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist reviews inpatient medical records concurrently to ensure clinical documentation accurately reflects severity of illness and risk of mortality and is translated correctly into coded data. The role interacts with providers, hospital staff, and revenue cycle teams to support accurate MS-DRG assignment and overall hospital performance initiatives. This position maintains expertise in clinical documentation requirements and participates in department-level education and improvement activities.
