Step Up For Students
The Legal Counsel provides strategic and practical legal support to Step Up For Students, Inc. and its affiliates across transactional, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance, and operational matters. This role serves as a trusted legal advisor, independently managing legal matters from intake through execution, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents. The position also supports the legal team in interpreting scholarship-funding and scholarship-granting organization requirements, regulatory obligations, and risk management initiatives.
Step Up For Students is a Florida-based nonprofit that helps families access PreK–12 scholarships so students can attend the school or learning option that best fits their needs. It administers major state scholarship programs (such as the Florida Tax Credit and Family Empowerment scholarships) and offers tailored funding and supports for low-income children, students with disabilities, and other eligible learners. The organization manages applications and awards, connects families with schools and resources, and provides parent guidance to support student success.
