Proxima Fusion
As a Microwave Instrumentation and Control Engineer at Proxima Fusion, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-power microwave systems critical for initiating fusion plasma at temperatures exceeding 100 million degrees. Your role involves collaborating with physicists to ensure component designs meet plasma physics and thermal-mechanical constraints, as well as building and testing RF control components in a laboratory setting to support the Alpha stellarator project. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in millimeter waves and optimize modeling at 200 GHz while interfacing with project management to ensure timely delivery of RF components.
Proxima Fusion is Europe's fastest-growing fusion startup, building the first generation of fusion power plants using quasi-isodynamic (QI) stellarators—the clearest path to putting fusion on the grid. The company leverages decades of research in magnetic confinement fusion, combining advances in stellarator optimization, computational design, and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology with the expertise behind the record-breaking Wendelstein 7-X stellarator at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. As the first-ever spin-out from the Max Planck IPP, Proxima Fusion is leading Europe into a new era of clean, safe, and abundant fusion energy.
