About this role

A Peer Support Specialist promotes self-determination and recovery for individuals with mental illness by using personal lived experiences to guide them toward community reintegration and personal goals. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and advocating for patients while modeling trauma-informed care principles and effective coping strategies. The specialist reports to the Program Director and works directly with adults within Adult Mental Health Services.

Responsibilities

Support individuals in the recovery process through coaching and mentoring.
Identify and help individuals utilize their personal strengths and assets.
Advocate for support of individuals and promote their independence.
Model effective coping techniques based on personal recovery experience.
Utilize community resources to promote integration and social support.
