Police Officer Trainee

This non-sworn, training-level classification involves attending an approved California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) basic police academy to acquire the technical knowledge, skills, and physical capabilities required for police service. Trainees perform related duties such as assisting in records, crime prevention, and data collection while under direct supervision. Promotion to a sworn Police Officer position is contingent upon successful completion of the basic academy and a final review by the Police Chief.
