Friends of the Children is a national nonprofit that provides long-term, paid professional mentoring to young people facing the greatest obstacles, including those involved in foster care or struggling with mental-health and family instability. Mentors commit to relationships of 12+ years under a research-informed "Power of One" model and a two-generation approach that supports both youth and their caregivers. Operating through local chapters across the U.S., the organization focuses on building stability, academic and career readiness, and breaking cycles of generational disadvantage. Supporters engage through donations, partnerships, volunteering, and advocacy to help scale the program and share graduate success stories.
