Friends of the Children — Houston is the local chapter of a national nonprofit that pairs youth facing the greatest barriers, including those in foster care, with paid, professional, long‑term mentors called “Friends.” These one‑to‑one mentors support children across education, mental health, career readiness, and family stability with the goal of creating lasting, generational change. The organization partners with schools, child‑welfare and community agencies and is sustained by donors and events, offering multiple ways for the community to get involved.
