PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN

A Psychiatric Technician ensures the safety of adults and children with mental illness on acute psychiatric hospital units by delivering patient care and assisting with activities of daily living. The role involves organizing nursing care, completing admission and discharge documentation, and leading therapeutic groups while maintaining a safe therapeutic milieu. Technicians act as patient advocates, manage potential crisis situations, and perform delegated clinical tasks such as EKGs and blood glucose testing under the supervision of licensed nurses.
