About this role

The SA/DV Nurse provides crisis intervention, forensic documentation, and comprehensive medical and psychological support to individuals who have recently experienced sexual or domestic violence. Operating from a feminist analysis of violence, the role involves holistic care and requires a commitment to being on-call across various shifts. The position is part of the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence (SA/DV) Care Centre, accessed through the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

Provide crisis intervention and comprehensive medical care to survivors of sexual and domestic violence
Perform forensic documentation and evidence collection including photography for assault cases
Deliver emotional and psychosocial trauma support and crisis counseling to patients

Qualifications

Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered NurseBCLS CertificationSexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) certification
