Smithfarms Coffee
A School Programs Facilitator at OMCA engages students in inquiry-based learning during guided gallery visits exploring California art, history, and natural sciences. The role involves leading dialogue, utilizing storytelling and culturally responsive practices, and connecting students' lives to museum exhibitions.
Smithfarms is a small, family-operated 5-acre farm located on the slopes of Mauna Loa in South Kona, Hawaii, specializing in growing and selling 100% pure Kona coffee. Bob and Cea Smith hand-farm their land without machinery, hand-picking only ripe coffee cherries and wet-processing them using fresh volcanic aquifer water. Their heirloom Coffea arabica trees, many over 130 years old, are grown sustainably without chemical insecticides, and their coffee is sold directly to consumers.
