About this role

As a Senior Applied AI/ML Scientist on the Compass team, you will serve as the technical lead for an always-present retailer assistant, driving agent quality through rigorous data strategies and evaluation while building end-to-end product features at a fast pace. This individual contributor role requires balancing applied science rigor with cross-stack engineering capabilities to shape the future of agentic AI for independent retailers. You will define technical direction, manage prototyping, and partner closely with engineering teams to deploy high-impact AI solutions that enhance buying decisions.

Responsibilities

Own the technical direction and scientific north star for agentic products
Ship end-to-end retailer assistant features across full stacks
Design and implement robust evaluation strategies and offline test suites
Translate ambiguous product bets into sequenced tactical engineering plans
Partner with engineering teams on architecture and serving tradeoffs

Skills

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or related field5+ years of experience building production ML/AI systems
