Tla'amin Nation
The Youth and Family Development Worker supports Indigenous families in the qathet area and Tla’amin families throughout BC to ensure they are healthy, well, and safe. The role involves working one-on-one with parents, caregivers, and children, facilitating community connections, and advocating within various systems to meet family needs. The position requires building life skills, collaborating with service providers, and ensuring cultural and traditional resources are accessible.
Tla'amin Nation is the governing body of the Tla'amin (Sliammon) people, a Coast Salish First Nation located on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast near Powell River. The Nation manages community services, housing, education, health, and cultural programs while overseeing land, fisheries, forestry, and economic development initiatives. Following a modern treaty finalized in 2016, Tla'amin has emphasized self‑governance, infrastructure and business growth through partnerships and local enterprises. They also prioritize language and cultural revitalization and sustainable resource stewardship to support long‑term community wellbeing.
