About this role
The Research Vessel (R/V) Chief Engineer serves as the chief engineer for the R/V Virginia, ensuring compliance with federal and state maritime regulations and supporting VIMS’ marine research operations. The role reports to the vessel Captain and may provide both seaside and shoreside engineering support for other vessels in the VIMS fleet as needed.

Qualifications

- ABYC Electrical (preferred)
- ABYC Refrigeration (preferred)
