Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
The Indigenous Peer Support Program Coordinator provides mentorship and support networks to urban Indigenous individuals under community supervision to improve mental health and reduce recidivism. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate services while engaging with individuals and partner programs to promote holistic well-being.
Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (TBIFC) is one of the original six Friendship Centres in Ontario and a founding member of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC). Based in Thunder Bay, it provides culturally grounded, client-centred supports across the life journey—helping Indigenous individuals and families access wellness, youth and family programming, employment/training, and community outreach. The centre promotes Indigenous culture, advocacy and connection to local services, aiming to improve social well‑being and access to supports for urban Indigenous populations. TBIFC works with partners and funders to deliver culturally safe programs tailored to community needs.
