Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
The Transitional Housing Outreach Worker supports urban Indigenous individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of insecure housing by providing responsive, one-to-one services. The role involves helping individuals identify, access, and navigate adult service systems relevant to their housing needs using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. This position requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.
Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (TBIFC) is one of the original six Friendship Centres in Ontario and a founding member of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC). Based in Thunder Bay, it provides culturally grounded, client-centred supports across the life journey—helping Indigenous individuals and families access wellness, youth and family programming, employment/training, and community outreach. The centre promotes Indigenous culture, advocacy and connection to local services, aiming to improve social well‑being and access to supports for urban Indigenous populations. TBIFC works with partners and funders to deliver culturally safe programs tailored to community needs.
