Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
The Life Long Care Support Worker provides culturally appropriate community support services to urban Indigenous individuals who are elderly, frail, physically disabled, or chronically ill. The role focuses on promoting independent living, community participation, and an improved quality of life through security checks, transportation, adult day programming, and Indigenous support services. This position aims to deliver an integrated response to enhance the well-being of the target population.
Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (TBIFC) is one of the original six Friendship Centres in Ontario and a founding member of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC). Based in Thunder Bay, it provides culturally grounded, client-centred supports across the life journey—helping Indigenous individuals and families access wellness, youth and family programming, employment/training, and community outreach. The centre promotes Indigenous culture, advocacy and connection to local services, aiming to improve social well‑being and access to supports for urban Indigenous populations. TBIFC works with partners and funders to deliver culturally safe programs tailored to community needs.
