GGR-Peat
This role provides dedicated support to the Science Director for Water and Climate Science and other senior leaders across the organisation, ensuring priorities are managed effectively and day-to-day activities run smoothly. The position combines personal assistant responsibilities with broader coordination and administrative support, including managing diaries, coordinating travel, and handling logistics for meetings and workshops. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders, colleagues, and external stakeholders to maintain efficient and professional operations.
GGR-Peat is a UKRI-funded demonstrator project focused on restoring degraded UK peatlands to function as effective long-term greenhouse gas removal (GGR) systems through accelerated peat formation. The project develops and tests innovative land-management practices — including high water level management, Sphagnum re-establishment, and biochar application — to convert peatlands from major GHG emission sources into carbon sinks. It also quantifies environmental, social, and economic benefits, and develops pathways for scaling sustainable peatland restoration across the UK.
