About this role

Astera Labs is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to define and measure the performance of its scale-up AI fabric. The role involves building roofline models, benchmarks, and conducting end‑to‑end workload studies on real GPU inference and training workloads to guide product decisions and marketing narratives.

Responsibilities

Establish theoretical and measured roofline models for scale‑up fabric
Run end‑to‑end inference model workloads on target hardware
Design, build, and maintain automated lab test infrastructure
Partner with ASIC, firmware, software, and product teams to influence design decisions
Provide performance data, analysis, and reports for customer engagements and events

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fieldMS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
