About this role

As a Senior Software Engineer on Amplitude's Middleware team, you will design and build core components of the query and compute engine that powers analytics across the platform. You will evolve the compute API and semantic layer to support diverse engineering teams while optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability for complex data workloads. This role involves taking ownership of projects end-to-end and collaborating closely with data management, marketing analytics, and product teams to shape the underlying infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Design and build core parts of the query and compute engine
Evolve the compute API and semantic layer for broader team use
Optimize performance and scalability of query planning and execution
Unify and evolve the core data model for event and non-event data
Partner with cross-functional teams to shape the compute layer
