Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
The Transitional Housing Support Worker provides one-on-one services to Indigenous youth and young adults experiencing homelessness, guiding them through adult service systems to secure stable housing. Using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, the role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, advocate for client needs, and assist in the transition to independent adulthood.
Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre (TBIFC) is one of the original six Friendship Centres in Ontario and a founding member of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC). Based in Thunder Bay, it provides culturally grounded, client-centred supports across the life journey—helping Indigenous individuals and families access wellness, youth and family programming, employment/training, and community outreach. The centre promotes Indigenous culture, advocacy and connection to local services, aiming to improve social well‑being and access to supports for urban Indigenous populations. TBIFC works with partners and funders to deliver culturally safe programs tailored to community needs.
