Simplify alternative

ApplyBlast vs Simplify:Applications That Actually Get Sent

Simplify’s Copilot extension can autofill your applications (which ApplyBlast can also do), but ApplyBlast will actually search for jobs, write your application materials and apply for the jobs for you as well.

While Simplify only gives you the option of opening individual applications, checking each field and submitting them one by one, ApplyBlast offers both: the ability to apply on your behalf while you do other things, and a browser extension so you can handle the applications you would rather submit yourself.

The short version

Whereas Simplify and ApplyBlast have the same goal of removing the tedium of applications, they take opposite approaches.

Simplify is a job application assistant that works within your browser. When you’re filling out an application, its Copilot autofills information it understands to come from your profile. Simplify touts one-click autofill on 100,000+ company career sites, and will keep track of your submitted applications in your tracker. Simplify+ provides AI-generated tailored resumes, cover letters, and assistance with application questions.

Remember that you still have to find, open, evaluate and apply to each job yourself. An autofill tool makes the application process faster, but it cannot apply to a job without you. You are the constant here.

ApplyBlast also offers a browser extension. You can log in to use the extension on job board websites where you may prefer to apply for jobs directly and hands on. This isn’t the only way to apply though, it is just another option.

ApplyBlast takes the grunt work out of applying for jobs. With over 10 million jobs indexed, and approximately 52,000 new jobs added daily, ApplyBlast searches and qualifies job postings against the criteria important to you (including salary, location, role, seniority, experience, and your preferences) and if the match is right, it automatically tailors your resume, cover letter, and application answers and submits the applications while the jobs are still fresh.

If you want a faster form-filler and you enjoy being in the loop for every single application, Simplify’s free tier is a genuinely good tool.

ApplyBlast gives you the option to apply hands-on or automatically, on the days you’re too busy, to the positions you’re interested in. Every application, whether you sent it yourself or ApplyBlast sent it for you, goes into one tracker.

The difference

Filling out the form isn’t the hard part.Getting it sent is.

Autofill saves you a couple of minutes per application, which is a real benefit.

But the reason job searches stall is not typing. It is the hour you did not have to go find the postings, read them, judge them and work through the forms — an hour that has to come from somewhere every single day for the tool to help you at all.

01

The right job

Every job is assessed according to the criteria that really matter, including role, salary, location, seniority, experience, and your preferences.

02

The right application

Don’t treat each job opening as identical. Depending on the individual role, you can customize your resume, cover letter, and responses to the application.

03

The right time

ApplyBlast pays close attention to new listings and puts its energy into them, so your application arrives before a posting gets crowded.

A faster form is help. A finished application is progress.

ApplyBlast vs Simplify

Both speed up applying, but only one of them actually applies. Here is where the experience differs.

Customer feedback

What dissatisfied Simplify reviewers say

All software products have unhappy customers, ApplyBlast included. We analysed the complaints posted on Simplify’s Trustpilot page to find the issues that come up most often. The number of reviews is limited, though, so treat these as individual experiences rather than a verdict.

Expectations vs. autofill

A common theme of the reviews is that users expected an agent that applies for them, but found a tool that fills in forms instead. Several users mention there was much more manual work to do than they expected.

Autofill accuracy

In some applicant tracking systems, fields are left blank or filled in incorrectly, which reviewers say costs them time instead of saving it.

Refunds and billing

A number of the one-star reviews are complaints about Simplify+ fees and refund requests. According to Simplify’s guidelines, fees are non-refundable once your subscription has started.

Support response times

A handful of reviewers mention having to wait at least a week for a response to a support or bug ticket.

Simplify’s free product is well liked, and it deserves to be — its Chrome Web Store listing carries a far higher rating across thousands of reviews.

Positive reviewers liked the tracker for staying organised and are thankful for the resume builder and the autofill feature when it comes to applying to lots of jobs.

While most of the criticism comes from Simplify+ customers who pay for access, most of the praise comes from users of the free autofill tier.

Trustpilot figures as of September 3, 2026 and may since have changed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Simplify alternative?

ApplyBlast. Simplify’s Copilot fills out forms and you still have to apply for jobs manually; ApplyBlast applies for jobs end-to-end. The ApplyBlast system scans its index of over 10 million jobs (with 52,000 new jobs added daily) and finds the jobs which best match your criteria for role, pay, location, seniority and experience. After matching you with the best jobs ApplyBlast tailors your resume, application answers and cover letter for the higher scoring jobs and applies right away, while the job is still fresh. That said, you do have the option to apply for jobs yourself with the ApplyBlast extension.

Does Simplify actually apply to jobs for you?

No. Simplify calls their product Copilot, and touts one-click autofill for job applications on 100,000+ company career sites. With Simplify, jobs are automatically tracked in your application tracker once you’ve submitted them. ApplyBlast also has an extension that enables you to manually autofill applications if you’d prefer to apply to jobs yourself. The difference is that ApplyBlast also screens jobs for fit and submits applications on your behalf with Auto Apply. While Copilot will autofill the application for you, you still have to manually find the jobs, open the links, check the applications, and submit them.

Is ApplyBlast better than Simplify?

For most job seekers, yes. Simplify’s main benefit is that it can make each job application faster, but you’ll still be applying manually. If you prefer a more hands-on approach, go for its free tier. If your job search is suffering from a lack of time, however, ApplyBlast offers a fully automated service. It searches for jobs, determines which are right for you, customizes your application materials, and applies, all without your involvement.

Why do job seekers switch from Simplify to ApplyBlast?

Usually because autofill still left them doing the job search by hand. The reasons that come up most are genuine automatic submission instead of one-click form filling, a much larger job index with direct company career-site sourcing, per-job fit scoring before anything is sent, materials tailored per role rather than reused, and applying while postings are new. ApplyBlast also has its own browser extension for applying hands-on, so switching does not cost them that — it adds automation on top of it, and keeps running when the browser is closed.

Is Simplify free?

Simplify offers several free features, including the Copilot autofill extension, the Matches job board, and application tracking, while others, including AI-powered resume tailoring, cover letter writing, and help with essay questions, are available only with a Simplify+ subscription. The rates, however, are only made available through the app, and not on a public web page, whereas ApplyBlast is more transparent in its approach to pricing and plans and allows you to browse the job board without needing to create an account.

What is ApplyBlast?

ApplyBlast is an AI job-search platform that tracks all of your applications in one place. In addition to search functionality, ApplyBlast finds jobs matching your criteria, customizes and sends resumes and cover letters, and answers application questions.

How does ApplyBlast find jobs?

ApplyBlast indexes more than 10 million jobs and discovers roughly 52,000 new jobs daily. We look beyond major job boards and scan company hiring systems directly. This process uncovers jobs before they appear on other sites and become crowded.

Does ApplyBlast automatically apply to jobs?

Yes. ApplyBlast is able to automatically apply to jobs matching your criteria. It is fully customizable, so you can control the process as much or as little as you like, including having the ability to check applications before they are submitted.

How does ApplyBlast decide which jobs to apply to?

We only apply to jobs we deem worthwhile. This means we score roles on fit according to your seniority, experience, custom preferences, role, salary and location requirements, and review them before applying. Any that do not meet our quality bar will be declined.

Does ApplyBlast tailor resumes for each job?

Yes. ApplyBlast is focused on customization. We build job-specific resumes, cover letters, and application responses using your real-world experience, rather than sending the same application to every job.

Does ApplyBlast track my applications?

Yes. Your auto-applied jobs will automatically appear in your tracker so you can manage your job search in one place. They may also update with new statuses as you get responses.

How many applications can ApplyBlast send?

Each subscription has its own limits. Launch has around 100 applications a month, Boost has 250 a month and Quarterly allows 1,000 a quarter. Each plan has its own individual daily limit. Also, regardless of plan, our Terms allow a maximum of 1,000 applications submitted per user, per calendar month, based on fair use.

Is there a free version of ApplyBlast?

Yes. The ApplyBlast job board is free — browse and search the full index of over 10 million jobs without an account and without a card. Automated applying, tailoring and the tracker are on paid plans; see the checkout page for current rates.

Can I save jobs and research companies on ApplyBlast?

Yes. Alongside ApplyBlast’s company profile pages, which list a company’s current openings so you can research an employer before applying, you can also save any job listing to revisit later.
