ApplyBlast vs Sonara:Why 10x The Applications Isn’t 10x The Interviews
Sonara’s promise is printed on its own homepage: “Cast a wider net — 10x your job applications.” More applications. Less effort. That is the entire pitch.
Here is the problem with that pitch. Recruiters do not reward volume — they filter it out. ApplyBlast scores and reviews every single job before it applies, rewrites your resume, cover letter and answers for that specific role, and gets you in while the posting is still fresh. Fewer wasted applications. More interviews.

The short version
Sonara sells volume. ApplyBlast sells fit. That is the whole comparison, and everything else follows from it.
Sonara’s homepage tells you exactly what it is optimizing for: “cast a wider net,” “submit 10x as many applications with less effort than one manual application.” You build a profile, it finds matches daily, it applies. Nothing on that page describes a step where a job gets rejected for not being good enough.
ApplyBlast has that step, and it is the most important thing we do.
Every job is scored against your role, compensation, location, seniority, experience and preferences — and the ones that do not clear the bar are thrown out rather than applied to. For the jobs that survive, ApplyBlast rewrites your resume, cover letter and application answers for that specific role, then applies while the listing is still new instead of after four hundred other people have found it.
The gap shows up everywhere once you look. ApplyBlast indexes over 10 million jobs and finds roughly 52,000 new ones every day, pulled directly from company hiring systems. Sonara publishes no number at all — just “millions of openings” — and its own homepage carries a footnote admitting the system “checks jobs daily” and that “some postings may expire or be removed by employers between updates.”
Then there is what it costs to find out. The ApplyBlast job board is free — search all 10 million-plus jobs, save what you like and research companies without an account or a card. Sonara publishes no pricing at all: you learn what it costs only after you have started signing up.
If you genuinely want the highest possible number of applications sent, Sonara is built for that and it will do it.
If you want the applications to come back — right job, right application, right time — that is what ApplyBlast was built for.
More applications aren’t the goal.More interviews are.
“10x your applications” is a promise about your effort. It is not a promise about your results, and the two came apart years ago.
Every serious employer now runs applications through a system that filters for relevance. Sending the same resume to ten times as many roles does not beat that filter — it feeds it. An application to the wrong job does not become valuable because it was automated, and a generic resume does not become competitive because it arrived faster.
The right job
Every job is assessed according to the criteria that really matter, including role, salary, location, seniority, experience, and your preferences.
The right application
Don’t treat each job opening as identical. Depending on the individual role, you can customize your resume, cover letter, and responses to the application.
The right time
ApplyBlast pays close attention to new listings and puts its energy into them, so your application arrives before a posting gets crowded.
Volume matters. Right-fit volume matters more.
ApplyBlast vs Sonara
Both platforms will apply to jobs for you. Only one checks whether the job is worth applying to.

What Sonara customers report
Every product has unhappy customers, ApplyBlast included. But the complaints in Sonara’s public Trustpilot reviews are not random — they cluster around exactly what you would expect from a product built to maximize volume.
Jobs that don’t fit
The single most common theme in the negative reviews. Reviewers describe results that were “super technical or way beyond my experience,” or that simply did not match the qualifications they entered.
Filters that won’t tighten
Reviewers report little control over what gets surfaced. One describes having “no way to exclude keywords” and a system that “doesn’t ‘learn’ to exclude jobs based on thumbs down.”
Applications out, nothing back
The volume promise delivered, the outcome not. One reviewer sums it up: “50 applications, 0 respond, very expensive.”
Paying for the count, not the result
A recurring complaint in the low-star reviews is the subscription cost weighed against how few interviews it actually produced.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Sonara alternative?
ApplyBlast. Sonara’s own homepage sells volume — “cast a wider net,” “10x your job applications.” ApplyBlast sells the opposite: every job is scored against your role, salary, location, seniority and experience before anything is sent, and the ones that do not clear the bar get rejected instead of applied to. Your resume, cover letter and answers are rewritten for each specific role. ApplyBlast indexes over 10 million jobs with roughly 52,000 added daily, pulls straight from company hiring systems, applies while postings are still new, publishes every price on the site, and lets you browse the entire board free without an account.
Is ApplyBlast better than Sonara?
For anyone who wants interviews rather than a high application count, yes. The two are optimizing for different numbers. Sonara is built to maximize applications sent — that is what its homepage promises. ApplyBlast is built to maximize applications worth sending: fit screening before submission, materials rewritten per role instead of reused, and fresh postings prioritized so you are early rather than one of hundreds. ApplyBlast also publishes its plans and prices openly; Sonara has no public pricing page at all.
Did Sonara shut down? Is Sonara still around?
Sonara shut down on February 1, 2024 after the original company failed to raise more funding, and users lost access mid-search with no warning. The brand was later bought by BOLD — the company behind Zety, LiveCareer and MyPerfectResume — and brought back. As of September 2026 sonara.ai is live again, with the footer crediting Bold Limited. So it is running, but it is the same name under different owners rather than a continuation of the product people originally signed up for. Worth knowing before you hand over a job search.
How much does Sonara cost?
Sonara does not tell you until you have started signing up. As of September 3, 2026, sonara.ai has no pricing page, no pricing link in its navigation or footer, and no prices anywhere on its homepage — “Get Started” takes you straight into signup. Third-party figures circulating online range from roughly $24 to $150 a month, and a spread that wide says more about the absence of published pricing than about what you would actually be charged. ApplyBlast works the other way around: the job board is free, so you can search all 10 million-plus jobs, save the ones you want and research companies without an account or a card, and decide about automated applying only once you have seen what is in the index.
Does Sonara tailor your resume for each job?
Nothing on Sonara’s public pages describes per-job resume tailoring, and reviewers frequently report the same document going out to every listing. ApplyBlast rewrites your resume, cover letter and application answers for each specific role, using your real experience. That distinction matters more than it used to: employers now filter applications for relevance automatically, so one generic resume sent to ten times as many jobs mostly just gets filtered ten times as often.
Why do job seekers switch from Sonara to ApplyBlast?
Because the applications went out and nothing came back. The reasons we hear most: fit screening instead of applying to anything that matches a filter, resumes and cover letters written for the specific role, a far bigger job index sourced directly from company career sites, and applying while a posting is new — Sonara’s own homepage concedes its system checks jobs daily and that some postings may expire between updates. Job seekers also get a free ApplyBlast job board, saved jobs and company research pages on top of the automation.
What is ApplyBlast?
ApplyBlast is an AI job-search platform that tracks all of your applications in one place. In addition to search functionality, ApplyBlast finds jobs matching your criteria, customizes and sends resumes and cover letters, and answers application questions.
How does ApplyBlast find jobs?
ApplyBlast indexes more than 10 million jobs and discovers roughly 52,000 new jobs daily. We look beyond major job boards and scan company hiring systems directly. This process uncovers jobs before they appear on other sites and become crowded.
Does ApplyBlast automatically apply to jobs?
Yes. ApplyBlast is able to automatically apply to jobs matching your criteria. It is fully customizable, so you can control the process as much or as little as you like, including having the ability to check applications before they are submitted.
How does ApplyBlast decide which jobs to apply to?
We only apply to jobs we deem worthwhile. This means we score roles on fit according to your seniority, experience, custom preferences, role, salary and location requirements, and review them before applying. Any that do not meet our quality bar will be declined.
Does ApplyBlast tailor resumes for each job?
Yes. ApplyBlast is focused on customization. We build job-specific resumes, cover letters, and application responses using your real-world experience, rather than sending the same application to every job.
Does ApplyBlast track my applications?
Yes. Your auto-applied jobs will automatically appear in your tracker so you can manage your job search in one place. They may also update with new statuses as you get responses.
How many applications can ApplyBlast send?
Each subscription has its own limits. Launch has around 100 applications a month, Boost has 250 a month and Quarterly allows 1,000 a quarter. Each plan has its own individual daily limit. Also, regardless of plan, our Terms allow a maximum of 1,000 applications submitted per user, per calendar month, based on fair use.
Is there a free version of ApplyBlast?
Yes. The ApplyBlast job board is free — browse and search the full index of over 10 million jobs without an account and without a card. Automated applying, tailoring and the tracker are on paid plans; see the checkout page for current rates.
Can I save jobs and research companies on ApplyBlast?
Yes. Alongside ApplyBlast’s company profile pages, which list a company’s current openings so you can research an employer before applying, you can also save any job listing to revisit later.
How we researched this comparison
This comparison was written by ApplyBlast, so you should assume we have a point of view. We would rather be openly biased and accurate than pretend to be neutral.
Everything we say about Sonara comes from their own public website — homepage, public job board, blog and site footer — plus their public Trustpilot profile and widely reported coverage of the 2024 shutdown and BOLD relaunch. We credit Sonara on every capability their pages describe, including their auto-apply, their application dashboard and their public job board. Where their pages do not describe a capability, we say that rather than claiming it is missing. They publish no pricing, so we quote no price for them. ApplyBlast figures come from our own product and Terms.
