Teal alternative

ApplyBlast vs Teal:The Alternative That Actually Applies For You

Teal is a digital filing cabinet for your job search. It tracks the jobs you find, scores your resume against a job description, and autofills application fields. It only helps once you have found the job and sat down to apply.

ApplyBlast does the part Teal leaves to you. It finds the right job, screens it for fit, tailors the application and submits it — while the posting is still fresh, without you at your keyboard.

The short version

Teal and ApplyBlast both set out to make job searching less painful. They draw the line in very different places.

You still do everything. Find the jobs. Save them with the Chrome extension. Build the resume, score it, open the application, read back the autofilled answers, press submit. Teal organizes — that is all it does. It makes every step tidier, and every step is still yours.

ApplyBlast removes the steps instead of speeding them up.

ApplyBlast continuously searches more than 10 million indexed jobs — roughly 52,000 new ones a day, pulled straight from company hiring systems — scores each opening against your role, salary, location, seniority and experience, tailors your resume, cover letter and application answers to the ones that clear the bar, and submits them while the posting is still new.

That difference compounds. A tool that saves you three minutes per application still needs you present for every single application. A tool that applies for you keeps working through the week you spend interviewing, travelling or holding down your current job.

That is the real difference: Teal gives you one way to work, and it is by hand. ApplyBlast gives you the choice. Browse and apply yourself. Or have ApplyBlast surface the matches and approve them one by one. Or let it run start to finish while you do something else.

Auto-apply is off by default. You control when — and if — you turn it on, you can dial it back whenever you like, and every other feature works either way. Teal has one setting, and you are it.

The difference

A faster manual job searchis still a manual job search.

Autofill, keyword scores and a tidy kanban board all shave minutes off a process you are still personally running. The bottleneck was never the typing — it was that you have to be there, every time, for every job.

ApplyBlast was built to remove that bottleneck, not shave a little off it. The right roles found for you, screened for you, tailored for you and submitted for you.

01

The right job

Every job is assessed according to the criteria that really matter, including role, salary, location, seniority, experience, and your preferences.

02

The right application

Don’t treat each job opening as identical. Depending on the individual role, you can customize your resume, cover letter, and responses to the application.

03

The right time

ApplyBlast pays close attention to new listings and puts its energy into them, so your application arrives before a posting gets crowded.

Organizing your applications helps. Having them sent helps more.

What Teal reviewers complain about

Every software product has unhappy customers — ApplyBlast included. But roughly one in seven Teal reviewers on Trustpilot leaves a single star, and the complaints cluster into the same themes over and over. Here is what those reviewers describe.

Charged after cancelling

The most frequent complaint by some distance. Reviewers describe the subscription being difficult to cancel and their card continuing to be charged after multiple cancellation attempts.

Refund terms that contradict each other

Reviewers report finding different refund windows in different places, and being told the window had closed. Teal’s published policy is that cancelling does not itself trigger a refund, and that monthly refund requests must be made within seven days of the billing date.

Support that doesn’t reply

Several reviewers describe emailing support repeatedly with no response — one reports more than five unanswered messages — and waits of around two weeks on refund requests, with no phone or live channel to escalate to.

Ghost and expired listings

A recurring theme is applying into roles that are no longer open, with reviewers reporting postings that could not be found on the employer’s own careers page and near-silence in response.

AI output with errors in it

Reviewers report cover letters that misspelled their own name, LinkedIn URLs corrupted on resume import, and generated bullets they describe as no better than free ChatGPT output.

Resumes that break in ATS systems

Some reviewers report that exported templates were parsed badly or not at all by applicant tracking systems such as Workday — the one job a resume file has to do.

Keyword matching that misses

Reviewers describe the match scorer highlighting irrelevant fragments while missing exact keyword matches present in the job description.

“Free” features that aren’t

Reviewers report hitting a paywall on features they understood to be free, with the more useful keyword and matching tools sitting behind the paid tier.

Marketing email you can’t switch off

Individual reviewers describe daily email, unsubscribe links that did not work, and newsletters they never opted into.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Teal alternative?

ApplyBlast. Teal is a job-search organizer — it tracks the jobs you find, scores your resume against a posting and autofills the form, but you still open every application and press submit yourself. ApplyBlast does the applying. It searches more than 10 million indexed jobs with roughly 52,000 added daily, scores each opening against your role, salary, location, seniority and experience, tailors your resume, cover letter and application answers, and submits while the posting is still fresh — without you at your computer.

Does Teal apply to jobs for you?

No. Teal’s Chrome extension autofills application forms with AI-generated answers, but you review and submit each one yourself, and you have to be on the job page for it to help. That is a real time-saver per application — it is not automation. ApplyBlast is built the other way around: it finds and screens the jobs, tailors the materials, and submits the applications on your behalf, so your search keeps running on the days you don’t.

Is ApplyBlast better than Teal?

For anyone who wants their applications actually sent, yes. Teal is a genuinely good organizer with a strong free tier, and if your search is small and you enjoy running it by hand it will serve you well. But a faster manual job search is still a manual job search. ApplyBlast screens every job for fit before anything is sent, tailors each application to the specific role, and prioritizes fresh postings so you are early rather than one of hundreds — all without you doing the applying.

Why do job seekers switch from Teal to ApplyBlast?

Almost always the same reason: they realized the tool was tracking their job search rather than running it. The most common drivers are automated submission instead of autofill, per-job fit screening before an application goes out, a much larger index sourced directly from company hiring systems, resumes and cover letters tailored per role, and applying while a posting is new. Many keep using Teal’s free career content alongside ApplyBlast — the two are not really competing for the same job.

How much does Teal cost?

Teal has a free tier, and its paid plan — Teal+ — is published at $13 per week, $29 per month or $79 per quarter. The free tier caps the AI features, so the resume match scorer, the AI bullet writing and the cover letter generator are the parts you end up paying for. Worth knowing what that money buys: at every price Teal charges, you are still the one opening each application and pressing submit. ApplyBlast’s job board is free to search without an account or a card — all 10 million-plus jobs — so you can see the whole index before deciding whether you want the applying done for you.

Can I use ApplyBlast and Teal together?

You can, though most people find they no longer need to. ApplyBlast already covers job discovery, fit screening, resume and cover letter tailoring, submission and tracking in one place, and its tracker fills itself as applications go out rather than needing you to bookmark each role. If you like Teal’s Career Hub or LinkedIn tooling, there is nothing stopping you keeping it.

What is ApplyBlast?

ApplyBlast is an AI job-search platform that tracks all of your applications in one place. In addition to search functionality, ApplyBlast finds jobs matching your criteria, customizes and sends resumes and cover letters, and answers application questions.

How does ApplyBlast find jobs?

ApplyBlast indexes more than 10 million jobs and discovers roughly 52,000 new jobs daily. We look beyond major job boards and scan company hiring systems directly. This process uncovers jobs before they appear on other sites and become crowded.

Does ApplyBlast automatically apply to jobs?

Yes. ApplyBlast is able to automatically apply to jobs matching your criteria. It is fully customizable, so you can control the process as much or as little as you like, including having the ability to check applications before they are submitted.

How does ApplyBlast decide which jobs to apply to?

We only apply to jobs we deem worthwhile. This means we score roles on fit according to your seniority, experience, custom preferences, role, salary and location requirements, and review them before applying. Any that do not meet our quality bar will be declined.

Does ApplyBlast tailor resumes for each job?

Yes. ApplyBlast is focused on customization. We build job-specific resumes, cover letters, and application responses using your real-world experience, rather than sending the same application to every job.

Does ApplyBlast track my applications?

Yes. Your auto-applied jobs will automatically appear in your tracker so you can manage your job search in one place. They may also update with new statuses as you get responses.

How many applications can ApplyBlast send?

Each subscription has its own limits. Launch has around 100 applications a month, Boost has 250 a month and Quarterly allows 1,000 a quarter. Each plan has its own individual daily limit. Also, regardless of plan, our Terms allow a maximum of 1,000 applications submitted per user, per calendar month, based on fair use.

Is there a free version of ApplyBlast?

Yes. The ApplyBlast job board is free — browse and search the full index of over 10 million jobs without an account and without a card. Automated applying, tailoring and the tracker are on paid plans; see the checkout page for current rates.

Can I save jobs and research companies on ApplyBlast?

Yes. Alongside ApplyBlast’s company profile pages, which list a company’s current openings so you can research an employer before applying, you can also save any job listing to revisit later.
